2012 Year in Pictures

2012 was a great year for our little family. The girls are talking a bunch, Jack has mastered some super hard flips, and the girls had their first beach trip. There are many other things I'm sure I'm leaving out but instead of all this writing...let's just look at the past year in pictures! :-)

Merry Christmas Charlie Brown

So the girls are 2 and the word Christmas is somewhat familiar to them. What's not familiar to them is Santa Claus, reindeer and all that jazz. It's funny to watch grown-ups in stores ask them if Santa Claus is going to bring them a gift and Abby give them the funk face while Zoe shouts out "Yeah!" not knowing what she is agreeing to. I've informed Jack (a few years ago) there is no such thing as Santa Claus and that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ. Any present he receives came from a living breathing human being he knows. Not some random white dude flying around on a sleigh coming down our non-existent chimney.

This year the kids were joined by their cousins, Justin, Lamont and Lamara on Christmas morning. The whole family came over to open gifts and munch on a delicious breakfast. Good times, good gifts!

The kids watched Merry Christmas Charlie Brown and loved the songs! Maybe we have a Christmas day tradition beginning. We'll see.

The gifts this year were awesome: princess castles, drum sets, dolls, glow pads, rocking horses, leapfrog laptops, pjs etc!

I'm looking forward to the day when the girls are older and we can share the true meaning of Christmas with them.
"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'"
Yes - that is the true meaning of Christmas Charlie Brown.

The best time of year!

December 1st

So I've been pretty slack about updating the blog but I promise to do better :-) Anyway I've been having such a good time with the kids decorating for Christmas. We don't do the Santa Claus thing in my house but we do enjoy a pretty Christmas tree and holiday music.

We started our day at a Christmas Bazaar for my old church home East Columbia Church of God. The girls played in the leaves while Daddy tore up fish plates LOL. Afterwards we went to Michael's, got some Christmas crafts and took some very funny pictures of the girls trying to put a foam Christmas tree together.

I'm not much of a "crafter" but this was fun! I wonder what we can get into next weekend!

In the mind of Jack

Jack is taking a full interest in his first children's Bible

As a result I've been getting a bunch of questions like:

  • "On the seventh day when God rested did he take a nap?"
  • "Why would Eve listen to a talking snake? Snakes aren't supposed to talk"
  • "Is it Adam and Eve's fault everyone has to get a job since we got kicked out of paradise?"
  • "Where did Noah get all the wood and nails for the boat?"
  • "There is a Moses in this book? I know a boy named Moses he's cool."

There's something about Christmas....

This Christmas the girls are fully mobile and could care less about presents under the tree. They got up at their usual time on Christmas morning (7:30), ate breakfast and watched a new episode of Yo Gabba Gabba. We tried to get them excited about opening gifts but they were just ready to take a nap. I must admit, even at my age a nap never hurts.

After napping and enjoying lunch our family came over along with a few friends and the girls finally got excited about opening gifts.

Thanks Grandma Betty for the four wheelers lol and thanks Juanita for over a dozen toys for the girls and Jack. They also got great gifts from Aunt Jazsmine, Aunt Shea, Grandma Sandra and us of course!
